Image Removal and Reporting Options

Project Arachnid

Website: https://projectarachnid.ca/en/

Project Arachnid is a tool that was developed by our organization, and is supported by the Government of Canada as well as the UK Government. Project Arachnid is an innovative tool to combat child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on the internet. Launched in 2017, this victim-centred tool crawls the clear and dark web in search of CSAM. When CSAM or harmful abusive content is detected, a removal request is sent to the hosting provider. Project Arachnid processes tens of thousands of images a second and is capable of detecting content at a pace that greatly exceeds traditional methods of identifying and addressing this harmful material.

Police across Canada and internationally who work within the specialized units addressing online child exploitation work closely with Cybertip\.ca and Project Arachnid to help reduce the spread of harmful images of children online.

StopNCII.org

Website: https://stopncii.org/

StopNCII.org is operated by the Revenge Porn Helpline which is part of SWGfL, an international charity that believes that everyone should benefit from technology, free from harm.

The tool works by generating a hash from your intimate image(s)/video(s). Image hashing is the process of using an algorithm to assign a unique hash value to an image. Duplicate copies of the image all have the exact same hash value. For this reason, it is sometimes referred to as a ‘digital fingerprint’. StopNCII.org then shares the hash with participating companies so they can help detect and remove the images from being shared online.
